Oasys Releases Two-Year Anniversary Technology Roadmap to Promote Chain Game Development

As a Japanese game public chain dedicated to bringing traditional games into the Web3 world, Oasys has released a new technical roadmap on the occasion of its second anniversary. This roadmap focuses on addressing the technical challenges currently faced by the development of blockchain games, proposes corresponding solutions, and outlines plans for short-term and mid-term technical development.

Oasys's technical roadmap focuses on three core areas: application data availability, layer two interoperability, and ecosystem scalability. These three directions aim to address key pain points in the development of blockchain games, creating a better experience for game developers and players.

Despite the continuous improvement of underlying blockchain technology in recent years, there are still some technical shortcomings in practical applications. Oasys aims to address these challenges by updating its technical roadmap.

Technical Challenges of Blockchain Game Development and Oasys Solutions

Continuity of Game Assets

In traditional Web2 games, the game assets that players work hard to obtain may disappear when the game shuts down. Blockchain technology offers a potential solution to this problem. However, with the popularity of modular architectures, new challenges have also emerged.

Oasys has proposed an innovative solution: by mirroring game assets from the second layer network to the first layer network, providing permanent protection for user assets. Even if the data on the second layer is lost, the user assets remain safe.

Interoperability of Layer 2 Networks

The second-layer network of Oasys is called Verse Layer, with each Verse being an independent "small universe" that allows games to achieve full customization. However, interoperability between different second-layer networks has always been a challenge.

To address this issue, Oasys plans to introduce a cross-chain bridge that uses a universal data format and standardizes APIs to achieve seamless interoperability between different layer two networks. This will enable users to freely move assets and data between different games within the Oasys ecosystem.

ecosystem scalability

Building and maintaining a prosperous ecosystem is a significant challenge faced by public chains. Oasys closely collaborates with ecosystem partners to provide them with the necessary tools and resources to support ecosystem development and lower technical barriers.

Oasys has developed the Verse Development Kit (VDK), which allows enterprises to quickly access high-quality second-layer networks with preset ecosystem components, accelerating project launches and focusing on content development.

Short-term and Medium-term Planning of the Technical Roadmap

Oasys's technical roadmap includes planning for two phases: short-term (within 1 year) and medium-term (2-3 years).

Short-term planning (within 1 year)

  • Standardized Game Asset Specifications
  • Create practical application cases
  • Provides Oasys Verse Development Kit (VDK)

medium-term plan (2-3 years)

  • Solve issues at the protocol level
  • Achieve interoperability between different layer two networks
  • Provide developer tools that align with the vision of Oasys

Oasys has made significant progress in short-term planning. In May, several practical application cases were successfully launched, including the release of the L2 chain XPLA Verse and a collaboration with South Korean gaming giant Com2uS to put a popular game on the blockchain. In addition, the blockchain game "Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS-", based on a famous Japanese football manga, was officially launched on the Oasys platform.

In expanding its ecosystem, Oasys has collaborated with several industry giants this year. This includes a partnership with Japan's SBI Group to enhance its influence in the crypto gaming and NFT market in Japan, as well as collaboration with South Korean internet giant Kakao's Web3 gaming division Metabora SG to support its entry into the Japanese market.

Oasys's initiatives not only demonstrate its technological innovation and strategic vision in the blockchain gaming sector, but also highlight its determination to collaborate with industry-leading companies to jointly promote the development of blockchain games. With the gradual implementation of its technology roadmap, Oasys is steadily advancing towards the vision of establishing global standards for blockchain games, creating real value for players and developers, while bringing new experiences and opportunities to the gaming industry.
