Xiangtan police have cracked a cross-border WeChat account trafficking case involving virtual coin transactions.

Gate.io News bot message, the police in Xiangtan, Hunan recently successfully dismantled a criminal gang that specialized in stealing and selling WeChat accounts. A total of 24 criminal suspects were arrested, and over 3000 mobile phones used in the crimes were confiscated.

The gang lured minors by offering "good reviews for red envelopes" and stole over 6,000 WeChat accounts. The criminal group used a "card phone" plugin to trigger the protection mechanism and rebind phone numbers for "nurturing accounts." They then sold these accounts abroad through virtual currency transactions, and these accounts were used for telecom fraud and other illegal activities. According to reports by Wu, the gang leader Feng illegally profited over 1.2 million yuan during this process.

The police remind the public not to trust part-time job activities and to avoid disclosing account information.
