The Japanese House of Councillors is responsible for legislative review and government oversight, with 248 seats, and members serve a six-year term, with half elected every three years. This election will contest 125 seats, including 74 district seats, 50 proportional representation seats, and 1 by-election seat. According to Japanese media, the results of this House of Councillors election will influence the fate of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's cabinet.
