US Federal Trade Commission: Losses from BTCATM machine fraud have risen nearly tenfold since 2020

Odaily Planet Daily News According to data released by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) of the United States, the economic losses suffered by consumers in Bitcoin Automated Teller Machine (ATM) fraud have risen sharply. Since 2020, the amount of this loss has increased nearly tenfold, to over 1.1 billion dollars by 2023. The latest data focus released by the FTC indicates that BTC ATM scams alone have caused over $65 million in fraud losses in the first six months of 2024. Of particular note is that the risk of damage to people over 60 years old in these scams is more than three times that of young adults. In terms of the whole year, the average reported loss by consumers in the first half of this year reached $10,000. (ftc)
