Is Bitcoin Showing Weakness or Is Staying Above 75,000 Dollar a Bullish Sign? Here's What Experts Think.
Bitcoin (BTC), is hovering around the $80,000 level despite experiencing a sharp get dumped of over 5% following the recent tariff announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump that has shaken global markets.
The price movement of BTC continues to contradict the narrative that it provides a reliable hedge against economic uncertainty.
Some investors view BTC as a store of value, while recent movements show it has a complex relationship with traditional markets. Joel Kruger, a market strategist at LMAX Group, said, "This moment feels like a turning point" and added, "We are seeing market participants increasingly attracted to BTC as a store of value and an appealing diversification tool in an uncertain environment."
Despite the decline of Nasdaq and S&P 500 to their lowest levels of 2025, Bitcoin's ability to remain above the lowest level of $75,000 since the beginning of the year has led to optimism among some analysts. This "higher lows" pattern is generally seen as a bullish technical signal and strengthens the view that BTC may be gaining resistance despite broader market instability.
However, not all experts share this view. Javier Rodriguez Alarcon, the Commercial Director of the cryptocurrency exchange XBTO and a former Goldman Sachs executive, maintains a skeptical approach. In an email, he stated, "Although it is said that Bitcoin could serve as a hedge against dollar-centric fluctuations, in practice, we still see a strong correlation between digital assets and broader risk markets during times of uncertainty."
