Is a Major Altcoin Season Starting in June? Here Are Analysts' Opinions
The Crypto analysis company Alphractal published a striking assessment suggesting that the altcoin season could begin in 2025.
The analysis suggests that despite the disappointing altcoin performances for many investors in the recent market cycle, it may have reached a new milestone.
Alphractal analyzed the relationship between Bitcoin (BTC) price and the Altcoin Season Index on a weekly time frame. This indicator measures the performance of altcoins against BTC over the last 3 months. According to the company's assessment, two different scenarios could herald the altcoin season:
Weakness After Bitcoin's Surge: When BTC shows its first signs of weakness after a long rise, investors turn to alternative cryptos and the altcoin season begins.
Bitcoin on the Decline or at the Bottom: While BTC is at historically low levels, some altcoins are showing less decline and gaining relative strength.
One of the notable findings mentioned in the analysis is that the altcoin season has started every June since 2022. According to this data, June 2025 may also be a part of this cycle.
When the time frame was reduced to a daily level, it was found that 23% of altcoins performed better than BTC. The Altcoin Season Index is currently in a state of uncertainty, which may indicate that the Bitcoin season has ended. According to the analysis company, this situation is giving signals that altcoins may exhibit stronger movements in the coming days.
In the first quarter of 2025, total Web3 investments reached a peak of $3.8 billion, the highest level since mid-2022, while second-quarter investments fell to their lowest level since 2019. Alphractal notes that these investment trends may show a strong correlation with altcoin seasons.
