French companies are turning their backs on Tesla: A historic turning point?

There is no problem letting Trump and Musk decide the future of the world. The one who laughs last is the best laugher, and right now, intense reactions are escalating, especially in France. It's time to economically punish the eccentric preferences of the Tesla boss. Businesses and local governments in the Hexagon are boycotting the electric car brand, causing a staggering drop in sales. The undeniable conclusion: Tesla is gradually losing market share. France battles Elon Musk: the rebellion of the three-color companies French companies have not yet calmed down. Elon Musk's public support for Donald Trump and his shocking statements about X are not warmly welcomed. Romain Roy, vice president of Orléans Métropole, reacted strongly: he canceled the purchase of some Tesla cars for his company's fleet. Last year, we ordered 15 pieces. Then came Musk's speeches, actions of the Third Reich, and the ecosystem was discarded.

The boycott has its price: Europe's alternative options are more expensive. Roy estimates the additional cost at €150,000 for his company. But the decision has been made: I will not give any more euros to Elon Musk. Other bosses are also embracing the movement, like Laurent Jobart, the director of a company in Toulouse, who plans to return his Tesla and has deleted all related information about the brand from his social media.

This trend is confirmed by the following figures: Tesla's car sales in Europe dropped by 50%; -26% in France in February 2025; the stock has lost 50% of its value in three months; in Germany, sales decreased by 76%; in Norway, this figure has dropped by 50%. Tesla: the collapse of freedom and global outrage The protest against Musk does not stop at the French border. Across Europe, his sales are plummeting. China, the main competitor, is happily watching the situation of BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle giant, attracting customers who have been disappointed by Tesla. In France, disappointment is turning into a stronger turning point. A tweet thread summarizes the situation: Tesla stock was burned in Toulouse, France, as the global wave of boycotts against Elon Musk is increasing.

Charging stations vandalized, cars tagged with license plates, stickers with the words “I bought this car before Elon went crazy”: The image of Tesla is being destroyed. Even the owners themselves maintain a humble attitude. Amidst embarrassment and fatigue, they avoid heated debates about their car choices. “The movement is spreading,” reads a tweet from @EUFreeCitizen, reporting on protests outside Tesla dealerships in the UK.

At the same time, analysts estimate that Tesla's future is seriously threatened by the rise of Chinese manufacturers and increasing investor distrust. Donald Trump: the weight of toxic support On the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, the bleeding situation is happening. Musk, Trump's economic ally, has crystallized all the anger. 'Sponsor a fascist, buy a Tesla,' a sign declared in a protest in Georgia. There, agents are attacked, cars are set on fire, and widespread protests are part of the company's daily life. When Trump saw his comrade sinking, he tried to patch everything up by an out-of-this-world communication: turning the White House garden into a Tesla exhibition. But the damage had already been done. Another tweet from Jean Quan emphasizes this viewpoint: Protests took place yesterday at nearly 100 Tesla dealerships nationwide. It is expected that another 80 dealerships will take place next month.

The collapse is so brutal! A collapse like never before, according to JPMorgan's estimate. The US, the birthplace of Tesla, is becoming the worst nightmare for the company. The brand, which used to want to be a pioneer, now finds itself associated with the far right and an increasingly uncontrollable boss. Amid global rejection, a series of boycotts, and the market collapse, Musk is exerting all efforts.
