YouTuber investigates and destroys a fraud group in a year, hacks into surveillance to expose their wrongdoing
Gate News bot message, according to BlockTempo, a fraud center disguised as a legitimate company in the Skyrise building in Cebu, Philippines, has executed over $800,000 cryptocurrency fraud in the past year. However, a YouTuber specialized in exposing fraud, Mrwn, after a year of careful investigation, revealed the gang's misconduct, prompting the Philippine government to intervene in the investigation.
The exposure of this fraud case originated from Mrwn's friend receiving a suspicious call in the middle of 2024, promoting the Quantum AI investment scheme.
Mrwn immediately launched an investigation and successfully penetrated the internal system of the fraud center using social engineering techniques, gaining access to live surveillance footage and computer permissions. Even as the fraud group relocated their office multiple times, Mrwn continued to keep track of their activities, identifying two key individuals: Marcus (real name Antonio, serving as the on-site supervisor) and Adam (likely an alias, using an Israeli phone number).
After a year-long investigation, Mrwn collected a large number of recordings, internal messages, and financial statements, confirming that the group had a revenue of about $820,000 in a year, with a net profit of approximately $365,000 after deducting rent and salaries.
