Sui Foundation distributes 4.2 million USD to fund 17 blockchain academic research projects
Sui Announces New Round of Academic Research Grants: 17 Projects Awarded Over $4.2 Million
Recently, the Sui Foundation announced the winners of the new round of academic research awards. This program aims to fund research that promotes the development of Web3, particularly advancing technologies related to blockchain networks, smart contract programming, and products built on Sui.
In the past two phases, a total of 17 proposals from globally renowned universities have been approved, with a total funding amount of $425,000. The participating universities include the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, University College London, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, and the National University of Singapore, among others.
The following are brief introductions to some of the award-winning proposals:
Research on the Diversity of DAO Voting Groups (Cornell University) The project aims to establish metrics for measuring the degree of decentralization of organizations and to explore practical methods for enhancing internal decentralization.
Adaptive Secure Asynchronous DAG Protocol Consensus (University College London) Develop an asynchronous DAG protocol to enhance attack resistance and adapt to the ever-changing adversarial environment.
Sui Smart Contract Audit Guided by Large Language Models (University College London) Improve the auditing process of Move smart contracts using advanced large language models to enhance the efficiency of security assessments.
Mapping Consensus Protocol Domain (University of Bern) By investigating the current consensus domain, providing new insights for cryptographic consensus protocols, and assisting in the design of distributed protocols.
High-Trust Verification Framework for Decentralized Oracle Protocols (in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University and Djed Alliance) Create a framework to rigorously analyze and verify blockchain oracles using formal methods to ensure the accuracy and fairness of external data in smart contracts.
Identify scalability bottlenecks (ETH Zurich) Enhance the parallelization potential of blockchain applications by identifying bottlenecks caused by design flaws in smart contracts.
Bullshark Protocol Mechanization (National University of Singapore) Use modern computer-aided verification tools to formally verify the attributes of Bullshark and advance the research on DAG-based consensus protocols.
Blockchain Benchmarking Standard Framework (Lehigh University) Create a standardized benchmark format for fairly comparing the performance of L1 blockchains and L2 scaling solutions.
Building a Scalable and Decentralized Shared Sequence Layer (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) Explore the use of Bullshark/Mysticeti as a shared sequencer algorithm to enable multiple Rollups to use Sui as the sequencing layer.
Local fee market for optimal congestion pricing (New York University) Study the local fee market to optimize the congestion pricing mechanism in the blockchain network for optimal resource allocation.
These research projects cover multiple key areas of blockchain technology, including consensus mechanisms, smart contract security, decentralized organizations, oracle protocols, and more. By supporting these cutting-edge studies, the Sui Foundation is committed to promoting innovation and development in blockchain technology, paving the way for the future of the Web3 ecosystem.
