Gold 10 Data September 13 News, international oil prices rose more than 3% on Thursday, as producers evaluated the impact on US Gulf oil production, after Hurricane Frances ravaged offshore oil-producing areas and then degraded into a tropical storm. The US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) said that as a result of Hurricane Frances, more than 730,000 barrels/day (nearly 42%) of oil production in the Gulf of Mexico was shut down on Thursday. However, some analysts warned that Frances' impact may be short-lived and it quickly weakened after landing in Louisiana on Wednesday evening. StoneX analyst Alex Hodes told clients in a report that this could refocus the oil market's attention on global demand.
