On August 13 (UTC+8), Bitcoin has been declared dead more than 477 times in the past 15 years. Data shows that 2017 (124 times) and 2018 (93 times) were the years with the most declarations. These declarations occurred when the price of Bitcoin dropped to as low as $0.11 in 2010, $2 in 2011, during the collapse of the Mt.Gox exchange, and even during the phase in 2018 when it fell below $4,000, and also when it approached the historical high of nearly $69,000 in 2021. As of early 2023, Bitcoin has been declared dead 467 times, and the total number has now exceeded 477.
